Oh that's great, I just logged on to come to the defence of the Kent school and had forgotten about the Artscape conversion, but it's a perfect example. I'm all for the dead space between the existing mall and Bloor to be utilized -filled in with more retail/services/residential...

Maybe the reason the houses have been stripped of their detailing for this project is because it is too difficult/time consuming to recreate them in sketch-up... easier to, ya know, just get rid of all that old crap.

Are they keeping it? Well if they are they're significantly altering the existing details to the point that it is irrelevant. This is a crime.

BAD BAD BAD developer! I want to rub their face in this rendering before any real damage is done. Foolish to plan on destroying those original buildings in the first place, but then to disgrace them by "designing" that 80's pile of bricks. This project needs to be put down permanently.

I really like this, though looks like someone forgot to remove the painters tape from the base of the metal stands. Eldon Garnet has some interesting public artwork around town, thoughtfully created with both context and aesthetics in mind.

I think it IS progress when developers consider older buildings as vital to redevelopment projects.

What a shame about 90 Harbour Street! Build a tower on top of it if they must, but it's a fine building that deserves a creative solution, not the wrecking ball. What's wrong with this city?
