    Transit Fantasy Maps

A chance to do good with your mad map drawing skillz You may remember me as transit editor last year - I moved to Newfoundland and am now a transit advocate here in St John's. One simple step forward would be to supplement the existing geographical map...

General cycling issues (Is Toronto bike friendly?)

The Globe also recently had a piece on the 15% rise in pedestrian deaths in the last 5 years http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/toronto/more-than-160-pedestrians-killed-by-vehicles-since-2011/article30391640/

I can't do that, drum118, but will post here when it goes live - please comment then and I can quickly update. I am also awaiting a response from Mississauga as well and may use that information to change or enhance the piece too.

    Toronto Toronto | Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

The whole office has been tuning in to that one... The 'last spike' has been 'driven' today with Kathleen Wynne in attendance. Expect a story about that from me shortly.

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

I will ask! But option 3C comes close and might include what you want if Metrolinx helps (slide 42)

    Toronto Toronto | Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

Am going to run a story about the Waterfront transit "reset" (forum thread here: http://urbantoronto.ca/forum/threads/waterfront-transit-reset-phase-1-study.25504/) , concentrating initially on the downtown link between the east and west sides, which could have implications for Union Station -...

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

You are right - there are so many different variations it is hard to keep them all straight! I hope we will find out more tonight... My costing guess was simply based on the idea that if it were not that costly it would seem to be the most elegant solution so I assume the others are compromises...

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

Well there certainly doesn't seem to be any solution that would be ideal - do you have any alternative suggestions? Does anyone have any idea what the relative costings of the options would be? I take it in theory instead of a loop at present one could build a tunnel and have the Queen's Quay...

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

I have just put up a poll about the downtown connection for the Queen's Quay based on the consultation's choices, so please vote (and if you would suggest something else, please let us know what it is you'd like to see!)

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

I just read that the 2010 EA rejected an underground moving walkway because it would "create a major inconvenience for transit users" but it remains under consideration here. The high speed Pearson one moves at 7km/h, so if one was installed it would take around five minutes to travel from one...

Station accessibility was one of the objectives mentioned by Tory.

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

The office was on high alert for this one but it was "announcing" what we already knew a month ago. I have chased the Ontario Transportation Ministry to see whether this amounts to a promise by them to match the funding so the money would actually flow. And what Toronto will/would kick in is...
