The maple leaf motif (if you still are calling it that:) would've looked way way better if they had etched/printed it on the glass panels, like at the recently finished Seasons and Saisons at Concord Park Place.

It's an ok design but height appears somewhat out of place in this block. The taller design seemed to complement the surroundings better and gave the tower a more commanding and sophisticated look.

The crane stabilizer 'thingies' are apparently creatively called crane ties, wall ties or tie-ins :)

I've always wondered why from the south elevation, One Bloor East's proportions appear well-balanced, with a pleasing height-to-width ratio that emphasizes its slender and elegant profile, while from oblique viewing angles, the building appears chubby. The One does look slender from all angels...

😆 You're right, I'll concede that 'pride of ownership' aka 'This is mine, hands-off" mentality is at odds with with a shared space here. However still beats me why the design review panel didn't at least impose an off-limits green roof on the dealership...

03/15/24 Looking North/East: CG Tower in the background to the right. This vantage point actually started to feel like a fairly dense/built up area. Looking East:

Your analysis is missing a key insight, IMO! A certain level of overconfident, frivolous, imprudent, despotic and narcissistic financial and professional delusion may be necessary for the inception of a design of this caliber, IMO.
