Agreed 100%. If you are looking at the view of the Toronto skyline from the east and see the north to south elevation, The One will appear to be the tallest in the city. From that elevation, it is possible that First Canadian Place may also appear taller than Sky Tower.

At some point the city will have to accept the reality that going a bit beyond 300 metres is dictated by market demand. The initial rendering is very thin, and won't cast a very wide shadow compared to 80 Bloor.

I would have to agree. The skyline will look a bit like a table top. It would really stand out in the skyline if the roof height would be 275m to 300m. Maybe go for higher floor to ceiling height to offer something different to prospective tenants. But again, Wishful thinking.

Thanks for re-visiting this. FCP has had quite a few conflicting heights through the decades. I remember back in the 1980s/1990s it was quoted as being as 289.9 metres. At that time, most sources wouldn't reference if that was the height to the roof or the top of the mechanical penthouse box.

In all fairness, the design of YSL isn't very appealing. Just wish the design was of better quality. 981 feet vs 1000 feet, there is no noticeable height difference. For example, most people won't be able to tell weather Aura or Scoia Plaza is taller.

Honestly , I don't think 299m is the final height. As previously mentioned, 299m is to the mechanical penthouse. I would venture a guess that the final height may be in 302 to 309 metres, depending on the height of the parapet. Don't expect a 10+metre increase. I see what you mean that so...

I agree the current design isn't the greatest. Could have been better. A wide 300ish metre tower just looks out of place in this location and doesn't blend too well with the rest of the skyline. Speaking of the Chelsea Gardens twins; they too will be chopped down by 10% or so.
