The original design's italianate proportions have long since been butchered, at this point there is very little of the original character left, with the windows essentially being all that is left. Let us just be happy SOMETHING is being done with it.

Wait what is going on with that bottom window on the right? Did they seal up a window?? Why?? Looks weeeeird..

Yeah that is what I was thinking. My thinking is they will remove the windows and pediments, due to the william-thomas-esque clause that you have to retain the exterior facade for heritage buildings (although I am unsure if this is classified as "heritage"), demolish the building, rebuild the 3...

If I had to guess they will rebrick it - whether that means taking the windows down or just redoing the brick I am not sure - but I have more of a feeling its the latter because old buildings are protected from building code as long as you don't threaten the structural integrity of them, so...

Are they going to be preserving the windows in the front? It looked like the render had different styled windows.. unsure why there's scaffolding in the front.. Those windows are actually some of the best preseved of any rowhouse imo.. Ah nevermind yes they ARE being preserved - it's the...

Yes it's a welcome change in this city, where it's more often than not the opposite. It's amazing how buildings can start to just look "tired" over the centuries. I am sure originally these buildings were quite beautiful, esp. with the sash windows and shutters that would have originally been...

I do have to admit this build is making everything else around it look a little shabby.. like those homes..

This building looks very "cobbled together" lol.. Still.. I do like the render of it so I am anxious to see what it looks like when it's done :)

A REAL tetris building with different coloured shapes wqould actually look AMAZING. You may be onto something there.. ;)

They should keep the neon green colour lol Also what's up with the giant rectangles cut out between the windows? They seem much to big for ventilation?

Pesonally I prefer what hamilton tends to do more which is either one side low and the other side high - or one side low and the other side high with 3 story high podiums matching the surrounding areas. I don't like canyons - they make everything dark and cold and its not fun to walk through...

Hey it's MY job to be "that guy" hahaha... But yes not too thrilled about that either. I never even went into that building so personally I don't know what we've lost, which is regrettable.. but eh.. was just out of the way.. imo the render looks actually BETTER than what was there...

It feels like a building in its pajamas right now hahaha..

Feels like something right out of victorian times that picture.. the arches are looking nice though :) Hopefully it doesn't get used as a drug den lol..

Ok I THOUGHT there were angles in the walls, thought I was going crazy.. thanks for that closeup! The cladding actually looks pretty nice close up.

Hamilton lives in a 1920s pac man-like cartoon world of black and white and greys lol

The city: "The last render had too much colour - MAKE THE COLOURS MORE BLAND! We only accept beige and greys!" I also see theyve removed all real brick and opted for pattern stamped painted concrete.. WE know how that looks when it's ACTUALLY built..
