All this talk about Chow being potentially polarizing is laughable when we already have her record as a councillor and MP to judge for. Any rude comments towards her opponents in the House or Council? Any blatant threats to media? Any oversized ego and leading a "flock" of worshippers?

If some measure of civility is considered polarizing, so be it.

Why resort to threatening someone as a racist? I sensed no racism in the original post.

If you want to be really picky then yes "Ho Lee Chow" is racist.

Who's threatening? Perhaps you don't know what the word "threatening" means.

If you can't see any racism at all in the post I quoted, then I'd suggest you're being wilfully blind, except you've just demonstrated that you don't know what "threatening" means, so maybe you're genuinely not getting it.

As for the other point, do you think Chow, if elected, would cause me to lose my home?

Oops, sorry, I only looked at the quote immediately above your comment.

Taking away the home was an obvious example of exaggerating and fear-mongering, but the hint of truth is that your taxes will probably go up.

Oh, OK; easily done. Thanks for clarifying.

Yes, probably, but under Ford user fees are mounting... and so are taxes anyway.

Doug Ford needs to shave off all his hair on his head. After that, he can put on bluish-grey makeup and he would exactly be Uncle Fester.

Evidently you have not seen him before his hour in make-up in the morning. :p

That example wasn't racist. It was making fun of foreign accents, and while its association with a plane crash s in bad taste, it's no more racist than this clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmOTpIVxji8

http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/racism

The belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races. Theories of racism: prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior.

I don't think the fake pilot clip meets this criteria. But that's just my opinion.

Olivia Chow is a socialist. Toronto doesn't need a socialist mayor. It's too wealthy a city. Socialism would not work well here. We need a mayor with a balanced platform. Let's hope such a candidate emerges.
Many wealthier cities than Toronto have had Mayors to the left of Olivia Chow and did just fine.

Even if Boris bested him twice in the end, London didn't exactly become an un-booming hellhole under "Red Ken" Livingstone--anything but...
London was on fire during Ken's year (and I mean that positively). Moreover, De Blasio, while untested, will likely do just fine in NYC.

Even if she was a leftist, that shouldn't mean much. Labels don't work too well anymore. Seeing how Ford has squandered money foolishly on cancelled projects and things like the Scarborough subway, would we seriously consider him a conservative by its traditional (fiscal) definition?

Rob Ford is a socialist in favour of private motor vehicles and subways.

Soknacki is more like a fiscal conservative: he prefers LRTs in Scarborough (and he is from Scarborough).
