I’ve long been opposed to term limits, but it gets more and more tempting in order to get rid of the deadwood. That said, term limits wouldn’t have stopped the dinosaur Mike Colle from returning to council, or another Ford to run in Etobicoke North, or from dynasties forming.
I like ranked ballots that make it easier for opposition to the incumbent to toss aside a mediocre councillor, rather than see challengers split the vote.
As for the councillors I’d keep, it’s easier to name the councillors who need to go. These include progressive favourites like Perks and Fletcher, who have become arrogant and obstructionist.
