With the current questions and alleged corruption around Smith and UCP's handling of Healthcare - it sure seems like the government is wasting a lot of taxpayer money.

For instance, for contracts to private clinics, it is believed there is a set rate for patients to stay two nights for recovery, even though only 11 per cent stay one night, and 89 per cent go home the day of surgery. If the government is paying private clinics two nights regardless, that is a huge and wasteful payout to private clinics.

“I know that’s true, but I can’t prove it because all the contracts for these clinics have the actual money figures redacted," says Dr. Paul Parks, former head of the Alberta Medical Association. (From current Don Braid column in Herald)

And as we know, this government is making it harder and harder for info to be obtained.

Is is just me, or does "soon as possible" seem like she is pressuring the AG to be quick, but not thorough here?

And shouldn't the report be to the legislature or the public rather than to her, so she can't try to pressure him to modify it before it is finalized?

Lets not forget the allegations involved someone who worked closely with her in her office, so she should recuse herself from the whole process and let the AG do his job as he feels fit without any interference or pressure from her.
 
Braid, to his credit, is rather sober-eyed on the suitability of the auditor general to offer either a comprehensive or impartial investigation of the situation.
 
I reread Smiths comments a number of times. She says she was not involved. But she Did Not say they did not happen. Or am I missing something.

Nope. BTW, she also didn't say her staff were not involved, cabinet ministers, MLAs or UCP members were not involved.

So, there are a lot of suspects that she even is not claiming innocence for. The political involvement goes beyond what the AG can deal with, so we need a public inquiry.

Also one of the things a public inquiry needs to look into is when she became aware of the situation and what she did about it.

Anyone would be out of their minds to apply for any AHS board or upper management positions. Unless have a penchant for getting fired....what a gong show this gov't is....you can't even make this shit up. Watch Lauren Boebert videos.....her and Smitty are identical in their ignorance and overall stupidity of all things everywhere....lol
 
Does anyone know if Budget 2025 submissions are made public after the budget is finalized? Curious what some local orgs recommended for funding.
