No schism at all happening here. It depends on how strong the allegations and final results of the investigation are, but I really don't think anything will come out of this party wise. You might see some backbenchers say something, but unless they're not running for re-election then yeah they're going to be silent.

However, Smith claiming in any way that she doesn't know or green lit anything is completely false. Either she's immensely incompetent beyond all reason (not knowing what your Chief of Staff was doing) or she's blatantly lying. The Premier's Office has a pulse on literally everything the party caucus does, especially the cabinet.

I don’t know, it’s exceedingly rare for a cabinet minister to call out another like they did. This will be very, very interesting to see how it gets handled. I suspect someone’s about to take the fall here and it won’t be Smith, at least for now.

Schism or not, the contradictions are starting to pile up. Smith said she first heard of this in the news and then she said she had trying to get to the bottom of it for months. Which is it?

LaGrange told everyone including cabinet that the former AHS CEO was let go because of reorganization, but the CEO was actually hired on a multi year contract that contemplated the reorganization happening.

Its really not good to try mislead your own cabinet.

Of the 309 schools in Edmonton 96 of them are Catholic which is 31%. There is no need to build more Catholic schools at this time.

Many of those Catholic schools are older, smaller elementaries in the center of the city. For example, the 3 catholic schools in the Beverly area are (rightly) being amalgamated into a single new one. The staff room at St. Alphonsus collapsed a few years ago because the straw insulation from the 50s in the roof had rotted so bad that it ate through the wood. Archbishop O'Leary is overflowing so much that many of the classes are happening in the foyer of the next door middle school. Thankfully the first new catholic high school on the north side in 65 years is finally under construction.

It's completely valid to be ideologically opposed to having a publicly funded Catholic school district. I wish the NDP would be brave enough to actually run a platform on combining the Public and Catholic districts. But at this moment, it is as valid of a wing of public education as EPSB and under just as much pressure. We need more public schools of all stripes for our growing city. It could be much worse, the funds could be going to private schools instead.
 
New Catholic High School in Heritage Valley. And a new one in Castledowns going up now.

The first package was 7 schools not 11. there is another package coming out in the fall. for 5 more schools. There are a lot of one offs for Charter schools. (Why are we building private Schools). Anyway it will be 2 years before these are ready. Foundations should start this spring or summer.

But based on what I can figure the next budget will be quite heavy with project announcements. Red Deer Hospital phase 2, at least 5 more schools, Stollery money to start building ( or at least putting together the team that will build it).

EDIT: The dodging of questions here is so extreme that it seems like the questions are not related to the responses.
