I love how they have a blurb about community standards at the top of the sewer that is their comments page. And of course there is the ubiquitous wisdom of David Staples on All The Topics. How can you possibly walk away from all that?!

Yes, but this shows fairly well how out of touch they have become. Postmedia has become cheerleaders and apologists for the UCP. They don't have much credibility left anymore.

I take bets with myself how long before whatever topic was written about (dog parks, inflation, the war in Ukraine, one grandmother's journey to earn a black belt in judo, elections, the price of zucchini, anything at all, really) gets brought back to how the liberals/NDP/Sohi ruined the country/province/city. It usually doesn't take very long at all. This is particularly entertaining when said topic has absolutely nothing to do with any level of politics but trolls gonna troll. I miss the days when the Edmonton Journal was a respectable publication.

The touches on the importance of a media outlet 1) reflecting a diversity of viewpoints and 2) representing its locale. I have no problem with a newspaper taking a point of view, but, well, provincial election results would suggest the opinion writers and editorial board are not on the same page as a good number of voters.

More people voted for Nenshi in 2025 than Notley in 2023. Any journalist who tells you Nenshi is cooked is not doing their job.
