Waiving debate almost never happened under Kenney, but Smith uses it damn near every sitting. Heard some opposition members commenting that there's almost no reason to show up, because the UCP always votes as a slate and the Premier silences any dissent or questions about bills on the floor. Times are bad in the Ledge.

True but… there’s a big difference between maintaining party loyalty and effectively shutting down any and all dissenting opinions or debate in the legislature or in committee.
Controlling the vote is not the same as controlling all discussion and whether or not there will even be any discussion.

Yes, but if the UCP thinks the biggest threat to their reelection is this, they are a bit delusional.

Unlikely of course, but I am curious if the UCP will change their tone on recall being “weaponized by the radical left” and that it’s intended purpose is for “breaches of trust” now that one of their supporters started a petition against an NDP MLA.

Greater Edmonton and greater Calgary need 1 more riding each, then will be proportional to rural areas.

This government will never give Edmonton or the cities another seat. Just look at the way they hacked up the latest realignments. Edmonton and Calgary should have a min of 2 more seats.
