Normally you’d expect the backhoe after the drilling, but either way equipment on site is a good sign.

Is there any Cairo signage there? I don't see anything on their website... I think it is still theirs as they're done Cornerstone and pretty much done Rivers Edge. Just weird there's nothing on their website.

New utilities(??) seacan box thing on site. Backhoe gone but piles still there.
My hope this is getting built is clinging to those piles.

If this was a mid block infill surrounded by other high rises hidden from view than I would agree. It's perfect for that. A Waterloo quality tower on a corner lot (which is new to me) may change minds once this is completed.
I'm guessing slab on grade so the piles are then for the foundation. There won't be dirt removal.

Looking at the two companies I don't see any obvious conneciton. This project is also no longer on the Cairo website so I suspect that they are no longer affiliated with this.

Marwest have done some big projects before (including a new tallest in Winnipeg), but they are also the guys responsible for Bromley Square and a lot of the other precast, lunchbox looking buildings around w\Western Canada.

The shoring steel has been there for over a month, but yes all of this is a good sign. Tower # 5 to start during the summer
