That building is going up so fast. It would be so great to fill in all that space in that area still. Is that hon tower project that was proposed for that area dead then?

Occasionally OSB becomes more expensive than plywood and so plywood gets used. I remember seeing plywood being used in SFH construction about 10 years ago and that was the reason.

Likely concrete block for the fire rating.
It is better in terms of shear (torsional stiffness) but usually costs more too.

I hate to be that person, but shear and torsion are very different. But you're right, plywood is better in shear than OSB.
