How much of a delay would be caused by reinstating the Lawrence East station? 3 months, 6 months, a year?

Quite a bit actually, considering the current design makes a Lawrence East Station impossible. Re-instating Lawrence East would likely require the entire tunnel design to be thrown out. There would either be 2 options, either keep the current tunnel design but then build a Lawrenece East station something like 20 stories below ground which obviously won't come cheap and drive up the timeline and scope of the project. The other option is a station closer to the surface but this would mean scrapping a large portion of the already finished engineering work.

They might as well redesign it, seeing as what we've got now is one of the most wasteful subway projects proposed in the world.

Its not like North York Centre which could be infilled because the line was shallow cut-and-cover. The SSE is deep bore tunnel nealry 20 floors below ground at Lawrence. Once its built there is no going back down there.

If it takes time to put back in this stop so be it. Its hardly suicide. The stop should have never been removed and many who oppose line entirely even agree it shouldn't be built without the stop. Unfortunate if we have to backtrack a bit due to the sour territorial politics and poor planning, but in the long run its the right decision.

Ever heard of elevators? High-speed ones? If Montreal can make the Édouard-Montpetit REM station happen (under construction as we speak) despite being 70m below the surface, nothing is really stopping engineers here from coming up with a palatable solution for Lawrence East.

Well that's not entirly true. I believe Scarborough South went NDP, and my ward Scarborough-Guildwood went Liberal but the outcome is the same non-the less. Scarborough-Guildwood is the outlier in the whole Subway debate, since its MPP is Liberal (eventhough Hunter supports the Subway) and the City Councillor "Paul Ainsle" is against the subway. It's kind of weird having a City Councillor I actually agree with, DeBaermaker was a real mixed bag.

It just has to be a level rough-in. On the Crosstown, they tunneled and then excavate down to create the stations. They can do the same with the extension. See link and link. Since they have to create emergency exits anyway, they can create the shoring for emergency exits and future stations at the same time.

They can, but as far as the current plan is concerned they aren't going to. As it stands now the Subway will be dug with no consideration for a station at Lawrence.

I would say there's likely to be a lot of consideration for the Lawrence station in the coming months

Has he been "quite vocal"? I support adding a station or two to SSE, but imo the premier has been quite silent on any transit plan. With the exception of uploading of course. Guy talks about extending subways to Pickering and "rapid underground transit", but where's even the most basic of plans, or napkin maps, or anything? It's largely crickets.
