But wait a minute, according to the leasing agent, "......YYC has one of the most sophisticated commercial leasing communities." WTF is that supposed to mean? Can't be that sophisticated with THE North American HIGHEST vacancy rate. Like @David A says, all energy companies are cutting back.....who on earth is gonna lease 800,000 sq/ft of suburban office space?

A pickle ball court?

I assume this is another (private?) company they are involved with, in addition to their involvement in Go Auto which is part of a publicly traded company.

Meta reportedly looking to building a massive data centre in the Heartland NE of Edmonton in collaboration with Pembina Pipeline and Kineticor

We aren't expecting an expansion to grid load capacity until 2028 at the earliest. Meanwhile Edmonton expected rolling blackouts in almost -50 degree weather a couple winters ago.

Here's hoping the nuclear pivot comes sooner, rather than later.

Bizarre concept to me......but seems to be the wagon everyone is jumping on these days.....
It is, and there's a good chance the data center boom fizzles out before this one's even finished. I don't see any reason to encourage data center construction locally—it brings a temporary influx of jobs and some tax revenue, but it really doesn't do much for the community long-term. Meta is also (in my opinion) uniquely evil among the major AI players; they're going all-in on AI boyfriends/girlfriends and slop videos and all that.
