OEG & MacEwan have signed a memorandum of understanding for future development. Video includes some renders we've seen of Phase 2, but also includes their plans for Fan Park, which I'm not sure we've seen yet?

If the fan park develops into something more permanent looking rather than an empty lot, and the gravel lots on the NE and SE corners of that intersection are developed then I think it could be great! It’s just that the intersection has nothing on it on 3/4 corners and it should be on of our main intersections.

The Fan Park has been great for OEG and the neighbourhood. The development in the new renderings looks like a permanent stage and an associated event center.

Yeah, it's a concept that's worked out great. If the building on the North end of the lot is an indoor event centre for about 3,000 - 5,000 people or so for smaller concerts? That would be a fantastic add to the Edmonton entertainment scene, as we don't really have a venue like it. The Jubilee would be the closest.

For sure, although the rink parcel looks like it gives them the option for future development of a higher and better use. I wonder if those arches are purely decorative or if they can be used for temporarily enclosing the space.
IMO the mention of partnering with MacEwan on student housing was the real meat and potatoes of this announcement.

Towers are overrated. The Fan Park has brought so much vibrancy and activity to that part of town, and I’d love to see it cemented as a permanent plaza/programming space with its aesthetics upgraded as shown in the rendering. Along with the events center, this space would be a boon towards the music festival scene (EDM in particular).

As much as I loved the idea of a amphitheatre the rendering below is a nice mix of permanent building with some indeed space and stage setup for outdoor activities while keeping space to be flexible. The overhead arches are a neat concept and could have nice lighting built in. Look forward to hearing more on this.

I like this plan, towers are nice but ICE District has no shortage of space to build those. This is a good location mixed right in with ICE District, Stationlands and the Downtown neighbourhood in general. The temporary fan park/outdoor space has been a great success it definitely warrants this development.

I think that is an old rendering that has simply resurfaced.
