In the end the most likely way to get improved service here is if more customers refuse to be treated as second class by the airlines.

The Condor flight to Frankfurt is a game-changer, especially since it has cheaper fares as a leisure airline. I saw deals for $800 round-trip tickets, and I’ll have accommodations in Frankfurt, so a Germany trip is very much on the horizon.

The new MOB-West location is expected to include a hangar, operations, maintenance, logistics/warehousing, and training and administrative spaces to support RCAF operations for the CC-330 Husky aircraft.

Government of Canada provides an update on the location of the Western Main Operating Base for the Strategic Tanker Transport Capability Project - Canada.ca
The Department of National Defence (DND) is making progress on the planned location of the Western Main Operating Base (MOB-West)
The DND news release makes it sound like there are still ongoing negotiations but regardless I think this is huge news.
I wonder if there will be opportunity in the future for more forces to be based out of YEG if this moves forward.

Since when are military and civilian aircraft mixed on the same runways? This seems like a major security risk!

I am happy for YEG but need to understand the logic of not using a existing base.

It's done in Ottawa and quite a few American airports.
Sounds like a big building. And will probably be a short base for the fighters as well. And may become a travel terminal for Military deployments. But it will be off where it can be secured.

The old runway on CFB Edmonton was decommissioned 30 years ago.
