Reasonably confident the answer to this is no. Very few wide bodies are used point to point on the continent.

The 787s are used strictly for Europe/Asia (from Calgary) in the summer and Europe/Asia/Mexico (also from Calgary) in the winter. The reduction in American flights has had no effect on freeing up Westjet's 787s.
The reduction in American travel has led to more European traffic, but given American destinations are only served using the 737s, it just frees up 737s - which means mainly Eastern Canadian routes to Europe are feasible, which they did capitalize on adding YHZ-CDG/AMS/BCN, YYT-DUB/CDG, and increasing capacity on YYZ-EDI/DUB and YYC-KEF. But then they're obviously weighing more ambitious options now like YEG-KEF/GLA and YWG-KEF/GLA.

Looks like the new Euro routes being announced tomorrow will be operated out of YYZ and YHZ. YEG may see more YHZ service but not expecting a great deal of excitement for our fair airport which has already lost some US options for Summer 26.

We’ll see tomorrow, but I don’t think we’ll be seeing any new routes from YEG that have a stopover (ie. YEG-KEG-GLA). Almost no airlines do this anymore, and prefer to use the hub and spoke model.

My interpretation of the (former) map on Westjet's website was that it would be KEF and GLA, not YEG-KEF-GLA. Apologies for the miscommunication with the slash.

Well, both YWG and YEG looking to get the shaft by WS, with only non-domestic service cuts coming our way. The only enhancements we are likely to get is additional feeder flights to cities with European service.

I won’t be surprised at all if that’s how it turns out, all they would be doing is competing with their own flights out of Calgary. They have too much capacity as it is now out of there for some routes and need to funnel us there.

This makes me wonder if the leaked GLA for both YWG and YEG will also come, seeing as the leaked KEF for both have come to fruition.
