Nice to see PCL with the contract, but what is with them lately here? I can't even think of any real substantial private sector projects they've done lately. Haven't even touched a tower job since Stantec/JW despite all the projects that kicked off in 2021/22. The other majors have been eating their lunch here badly.

Construction has started on the Lewis Farms Facility and Park — a new facility and community hub where Edmontonians can move, learn and play.

This multi-purpose recreation centre will provide the area’s 75,000 residents with recreational, sport, leisure and outdoor park opportunities. It will be located on the southwest side of 92 Avenue and Rosenthal Way on the west side of Edmonton.

“As Edmonton continues growing to be a city of two million people, the Lewis Farms Facility and Park will be a community hub for Edmontonians,“ said Mayor Amarjeet Sohi. “This facility will serve these west-end communities’ recreational needs for years to come.”

Edmonton City Council has approved $310.6 million to fund construction. The facility is being designed to accommodate the following amenities:
  • Aquatics facility with a 50-metre pool
  • Twin arena
  • Multi-purpose and studio spaces
  • Fitness centre
  • Double gymnasium
  • Medium-sized Edmonton Public Library branch

A base-level district park will be included with supporting infrastructure that allows for development of additional park amenities in the future. A parks maintenance yard will be included in the district park.

“The design for this new facility aligns with The City Plan and focuses on community programming needs,” said Pascale Ladouceur, Branch Manager, Infrastructure Planning and Design. “The Lewis Farms Facility and Park Project will provide spaces and opportunities for the public, members and user groups that are similar to Edmonton's other four large recreation centres — Claireview, Commonwealth, The Meadows and Terwillegar.”

Construction of the Lewis Farms Facility and Park is anticipated to be completed in 2028.
