It would be interesting to see the actual numbers that concerts bring into downtown. At Last nights concert say 18-19000. Almost all restaurant and bars were booked up. Got into May @ AGA at 530 and it was mostly full. Then empty by 7. So far this week, Concert Monday, Hockey Tuesday Concert Weds....and if the Oilers win tonight back here on the weekend.

Wife and I spent about 100 for dinner and drinks. (does not include the fucking unreal prices for a drink at Rogers).

There are going to be tons of people Downtown on Saturday with Game 7 now.

Although at Commonwealth Stadium, I imagine that the dates of the two Garth Brooks concerts, Friday June 24, and Saturday June 25, with 61,000 fans at each, will result in some big downtown crowds during the day and after the event, plus on those same two days is Pride Fest in Churchill Square and, it is possible the Oilers could be playing in game 3, 4 or 6 at home in the Stanley Cup Finals on one of those days. 😀 and who knows what else is going on.

Will the LRT and downtown infrastructure handle it?

Still a defining group of my youth; Naveed was phenomenal.

I still recall driving to the NAIT open house to determine my post-secondary future when Clumsy dropped and I was hooked.

Dammit! I'd have gone to that show had I known... Since "the troubles" I haven't been to or felt the urge to congregate inside with others especially after 2 rounds of COVID (Delta and Omicron) with me spending the last 3 months inside with COVID-pneumonia. Despite 3 Pfizer shots and living like Howard F*cking Hughes since 2018 outside of the city itself off and on (and entirely on since 2020). Spoiler alert: When you have access to your digital health file you learn more about yourself than when the doctor's just blank you and send you on your way without more info. Turns out I'm 100% immune compromised from a congenital blood disorder that my family has but didn't bother to let anyone know because... THAT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!

Having said that I'm now making up for lost time (quite literally) and booking tickets to a series of concerts at Rogers this year amongst others... Alanis Morissette and I have a date in a few weeks as I do with Aqua in Saskatoon on July 13... And probably John Fogerty on July 22 at Rogers.... And maybe Cirque for my mom's B-day since she's a fan of tacky spectacles like Cavalia and Cirque de Soleil... Me? Not so much but when they give birth to you and such... You can sit through some French Canadian "woowoo" and my grandma used to call some things...

One of my favourite nerdy calendar tools... When I was at Northlands, I had the Coliseum one indexed and open since even at the Casino people would ask you 10000 times a day... "What's going on over there???? Huh? You must work there..." Yeah no however it's a good conversation starter/ender depending on the person. So... Rogers Place Events

K-Days concert line-up:

I thought Streetheart disbanded after the death of Kenny Shields?
Weak sauce line up as usual... I don't know who books the artists but seriously.. This is the best we can do? Rube City population ______

^ Folk Fest line-up is solid this year at least. I'm personally looking forward to catching one of my favourite bands from over the past few years, The War on Drugs, who's headlining on Friday Aug 5th 👍
