From MNP tower

I can recall coming into Edmonton aboard the CN Canadian (mainline from the east) in 1966 -- on the horizon there were only two standouts on the skyline -- the CN tower and and the Avord Arms (now called the Mainstreet Tower); made me think of a near-toothless mouth. Now 53 years later the change is really quite remarkable... the old lady is still in the mix although no longer serving as a passenger station. I can hardly wait to see what the next 50 years brings.

@archited, I had a chuckle over you're 'near toothless grin" comment. I've often thought just that of the residential cluster on East Jasper Ave, with Edgewater and such, from that East view, missing a few teeth due to the gaps between the towers ! Yet I really like that grouping shot from the South in the right light. The skyline has improved drastically over the last few years and I'm with you in anticipation as it continues its rise.
