More and more I am seeing the fine filigree of the old 5th street bridge as a structure worth retaining, repurposing it to a pedestrian oriented structure, enclosed as Gene Dub envisions, outfitted as a river crossing restaurant!!!

After the finish coat, I wonder how often the bridge is going to have to be re-coated.
I only just noticed in that last photo you can see the first segment of the pedestrian/cycling deck sitting on the flasework.

I heard final paint has been going on the arch now??
@Das Ponto I did notice it getting painted. Really hope that's all that's left holding it back from opening.

Snapped a quick shot on the way to work this morning. West side is getting painted first. If that's the final look I'm not really a fan of those braces or joints or whatever they are staying visible...expected it to be cleaner. But maybe they've got more to do there.
