Another good portion can be Malvern Town Centre to Mount Dennis and Kennedy to Pearson.

Forgot to extend to the Toronto Zoo.

The above ground sections of the Eglinton LRT are well thought out. They should help Scarborough create a denser, more pedestrian friendly environment - exactly what's needed to justify the multiple subway lines some feel it 'deserves'.

Completely different lines, serving different purposes. But you knew that and just came here to throw shade at the other line.

Sorry it must be tough to accept that Scarborough will be receiving a well connected, and detailed transit network over the next couple decades. Keep fighting such a great cause.

There's only $200 million in actual cash right now. That's not even state of good repair. Where is the rest of the money expected to come from?

That is council job to figure out.

Lots of time on their hands to do so now that they are no wasting everyones time bickering over subways.

For the amount of capital required and political points to be gained im pretty sure the Liberal and NDP Fed's will also be at the table to support councils new found unity.

Metrolinx's take on the Eglinton East LRT. From this presentation: http://www.metrolinx.com/en/docs/pd...220_BoardMtg_Advancing_Transit_Priorities.pdf

The Eglinton East LRT will run along Eglinton Avenue from Kennedy Station to Kingston Road, and then along Kingston Road and Morningside Avenue to Sheppard Avenue. This project will connect to many higher order transit lines such as the proposed Durham-Scarborough BRT (RTP #44), the proposed Sheppard East Extension (RTP #81), and the Scarborough Subway (RTP #13). Existing buses in the corridor are heavily used with over 30,000 riders per weekday, and demand for the buses operating along Eglinton Avenue East is expected to grow to the point where bus service cannot be operated reliably. Multiple services in the corridor appear on the TTC’s Express Bus Network and Ten Minute Network. The line will improve access to University of Toronto Scarborough Campus and to the rapid transit network from large parts of Scarborough, including a Provincially Significant Employment Zone. It will also provide access to the Kennedy Mobility Hub and surrounding residential and employment concentrations. With connections to other transit routes, it will improve access to significant attractions such as the Toronto Zoo, which sees approximately 1.3 million visitors per year. The Eglinton East LRT will serve historically underserved communities in the City. It will travel through or adjacent to seven of Toronto’s 31 Neighbourhood Improvement Areas, which are zones that the City has targeted for additional investment to combat specific problems such as higher than average crime, mortality, or marginalization. The project will bring higher-order transit to within walking distance of about 50,000 people, 24% of whom reside in low-income households. The Eglinton East LRT was endorsed by Toronto City Council in 2016 and is a key part of the Scarborough Rapid Transit Network Plan. The line is included in Toronto’s approved Transit Plan.

The people of Eglinton east deserve a subway. If STC deserves a subway then so does Eglinton east which connects to multiple GO stations.

nobody "deserves" anything, if an area has the density and ridership to support a subway than it should be a subway. If it doesnt it should be an LRT or BRT. That should be the only metric to determine what technology is used.

Agreed. Besides even if we build Eglinton East as a subway, there's none of that ka-ching to even afford it. And the SSE is expensive enough.

Oh, but apparently there's efficiencies everywhere in government that can be used to fund all these subways out to Pickering!

It'd be far more logical to extend the Eglinton East LRT to the Toronto Zoo than to have to take the back way into Malvern Town Centre.

Toronto Zoo is a far more natural end-point as development is prohibited beyond that point in Toronto proper. After UTSC/Pan Am (which I envision as grade separated in this segment) further stops could be situated at Conlins/Milner, Sheppard/Dean Park and then finally the Zoo via running parallel to the Gatineau hydro corridor.
