1958, also from the Telegram Archives, a photo with the intriguing caption:

"Royal Bank, King and Yonge, scene of murder-suicide of Marion Spencer and David Hill"

(Note the Manning Arcade on the left)

The gap to the east of the Manning Arcade was occupied by the original Toronto Star Building at 18-20 King Street West:

The Royal Bank Building is one of my favourite downtown. Anyone have any shots of the main floor before it was chopped into two floors?

Interesting view of the main entrance:

What has to be one of the strangest captions in the City Archives:

"Carrying Dynamite to blow up Riverdale Park, Broadview Avenue" (1907)

Nice to see one of the most neglected old mansions on Jarvis finally getting a little TLC. unfortunately, it looks to be in pretty rough shape.

Royal Flying Corp Cadets - Toronto - 1917
Can anyone identify the location?
It appears to be somewhere within the U of T.
A current photo of the site would be great for a "Then & Now."
