Heard back from Minister Guilbeault's office regarding the Canada Strong pass:
During the summer of 2025, the Strong Canada Pass allowed visitors to discover significant stories and iconic landscapes, fostering a shared connection to the places that have shaped our identity as Canadians. With the renewal of the Strong Canada Pass, the Government of Canada will once again offer free admission to national historic sites, national parks, and national marine conservation areas managed by Parks Canada, as well as a 25% discount on camping fees.
Parks Canada recognizes the high demand for camping and is implementing measures to maximize site occupancy and ensure access for as many people as possible. Visitors who are unable to honor their reservation are encouraged to cancel it as soon as possible. This is supported by financial incentives (refunds) and reminder emails.
Cancelled sites are immediately made available again on the Reservation Service, allowing other visitors to take advantage of them. Parks Canada has also launched a new “Availability Notification” feature. You can sign up to receive an email alert when a frontcountry campsite or Parks Canada accommodation matching your criteria becomes available. An availability notification does not guarantee a reservation. It is important to remember that other interested visitors may receive the same notification.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and concerns, and for your interest in Parks Canada.
Nothing burger. It's going to be impossible to find a national park site again.
