Heard back from Minister Guilbeault's office regarding the Canada Strong pass:

During the summer of 2025, the Strong Canada Pass allowed visitors to discover significant stories and iconic landscapes, fostering a shared connection to the places that have shaped our identity as Canadians. With the renewal of the Strong Canada Pass, the Government of Canada will once again offer free admission to national historic sites, national parks, and national marine conservation areas managed by Parks Canada, as well as a 25% discount on camping fees.

Parks Canada recognizes the high demand for camping and is implementing measures to maximize site occupancy and ensure access for as many people as possible. Visitors who are unable to honor their reservation are encouraged to cancel it as soon as possible. This is supported by financial incentives (refunds) and reminder emails.

Cancelled sites are immediately made available again on the Reservation Service, allowing other visitors to take advantage of them. Parks Canada has also launched a new “Availability Notification” feature. You can sign up to receive an email alert when a frontcountry campsite or Parks Canada accommodation matching your criteria becomes available. An availability notification does not guarantee a reservation. It is important to remember that other interested visitors may receive the same notification.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and concerns, and for your interest in Parks Canada.

Nothing burger. It's going to be impossible to find a national park site again.

It is interesting that there were also 2 conservatives that did not vote as well as the 2 NDP MPs. If the BQ keeps on making unreasonable demands, they will have no leverage with this minority government and those who voted for them will start to notice how irrelevant they are.

I still don't understand how a party that exists only in one province can be allowed to be a federal party. It makes zero sense to me, although I'm sure there's some twisty-curvy historical explanation for it.

You can run for the BQ nomination riding anywhere in Canada, the reason it doesn't happen is it's a waste of time. If the Rhino party got one riding by fluke, it gets to exist on the federal stage too.

On that subject, here's how the Premier framed it:

Also importantly included in the PM's statement is: These projects will only be built in consultation and partnership with Indigenous rights-holders and British Columbia.

So this is more of a pathway or plan, rather than just a green light.

Guilbeault resigning from cabinet in response to Alberta MOU: source

Canadian Identity and Culture Minister Steven Guilbeault is quitting cabinet over the federal government signing Thursday’s memorandum of understanding with Alberta, according to a source with knowledge of his decision.

Thursday’s agreement between Ottawa and Alberta includes a path forward for a new bitumen pipeline to the B.C. coast.

Guilbeault will stay on as a Liberal MP, the source said.

Good fucking riddance. Hopefully Sean Fraser follows him out the door too.
