5 days. RFQ will need to be completed this week (if it's to be on time).
The schedule was from April. Presumably the RFQ would have dropped in Spring were it not for the election. Obviously they couldn't release it during the election. Presumably it's ready to drop.

I have been told that funds are frozen until the new government is sworn in. Maybe after July 2.
Possibly after July 2nd ... but there's no financial cost of releasing an RFQ; however I don't know what other constraints there are during this election period.

Spring 2014 right? That will be over in a couple of weeks. I expect this will take 4 years with there being no underground parts?

Except for the Finch West/Keele terminal station (where provision has been made), where they expect the LRT to go underground with an underground connection with the Spadina Subway. Ditto for the future Finch/Yonge terminal station.

Why don't they end it above ground and save money?

If it's already provisioned (as stated), there isn't much money to be saved by staying above ground. It would be wasting money.

Because then you don't sacrifice road capacity for feeder buses to access the stations.

Its just too bad they didn't put in the underground LRT platform now at Finch West/Keele station, then just let the buses use them in the meantime to transfer passengers. Instead, the buses have to turn off the street to transfer passengers.

The buses would need ventilation which would be unnecessary for LRT. TTC get confused if you ask them to change stuff, like when platform doors got removed from the Spadina Ext stations and then someone realised the frames were load bearing, causing a ceiling redesign and much of the "savings" being lost.

Construction notice signs have gone up on Finch Avenue West about construction on Finch Avenue West from Highway 27 to Kipling.

See Pre-Construction Notice PDF at this link. Gravy!

The City of Toronto will be resurfacing the roadway and reconstructing sidewalks that are in poor condition along Finch Avenue West from Highway 27 to Kipling Avenue, starting in late June.

The key word is resurfacing. The roadway will be torn-up again when the LRT is put in. Don't know why they don't widen that roadway now and put in a grass median where the light rail right-of-way would go. Unless the current administration is anti-transit or want "subway, subway, subway" only. Gravy!
