By the way, in reaction to the significant drop in gas prices, a good friend of mine said to me, "You can thank Pollievre" - I think my face started twitching when I read that...
Yep! And high gas prices are Trudeau's fault!

To be fair, Carney cut the gas tax in order to kick out a leg of Pollievre’s platform. I doubt Carney would have done it had Pollievre not made it such an impactful campaign slogan. So, I think the Con leader deserves some credit here.By the way, in reaction to the significant drop in gas prices, a good friend of mine said to me, "You can thank Pollievre"

Absolutely not. I despised Elon long before it was cool.I hope it's not a Tesla! Those cars are garbage. Elon has scammed so many people into buying those ugly unreliable things. Even Tesla dealerships refuse to take them back. LOL There is no resale value on those cars. So many better EVs on the market.

A minor math check... $1.56/LThis is essentially the same price as 2008. * So its a 17 year price rollback.
Its always arbitrary what year you measure from, with any product, particularly though, a commodity with volatile pricing.
Still, overall inflation since 2008, in Canada is 45%.
So if prices of gas had risen steadily, in line with inflation, you'd expect ~1.62 per L
***
* averages are deceptive, of course, the price in 2008 swung from a low .72c per L to 1.40 per L
