Don't know if this is the right spot, but considering the length and calibre of the project, this will do. Just went and did a photo tour of the exterior of City Hall...

Oh and the new flood wall for St. Mary's HS is pretty far along...

Looks fantastic! I like the grass added to the front. Did you happen to get any pics of the paving/sidewalk/concrete work? From the one pic it looks like they cheaper out and just did standard broom finish sidewalks leading up to the stairs. Would have been way nice with some coloured stamped concrete or nice paving stones. A little design in the walkways goes a long way.

I had a look at that flood wall today about 2 hours before you posted the photo. One day we are going to cross paths. I walk and walk and walk like you do. I was really pleased to see they removed all of the ugly concrete from the river they used as a temporary barrier. It was such an eyesore.

quite a but of work being done on the elbow. it appears they might be constructing something equivalent of a “beach” area next to the bridge on mission.

It's all part of the Elbow Island Fish Rehabilitation project. They are restoring a bunch of shallow channels in and around the island to help with fish spawning and as part of this the park is getting a refresh. Definitely overdue as I don't think I have ever even visited the park as it seemed remote and super sketchy before.

Yeah I snapped some pics of that last week actually. The work is verrrry impressive. They have restored a breach through the island, similar to St. Patrick's Island Park, they are stabilizing the western tip of the island, and apparently a bunch of other shit. Sooo good! :D

Edit: whoops no pics, but I'll walk up n take some today.

I have to say, while in line at the Roasterie today I noticed how much better the atmosphere of the street is without that imposing, hideous mass looming over the west side. Airier, much more light and sky.

Once it’s a dirt lot with temp fencing or hoarding it won’t be so great for the street level continuity but the previous building sucked for that too.

Will gladly give up the sky for another Annex or Lido though.

Maybe I can find a genie to grant some wishes and we can get rid of the other one to the north.
