Openings
  • Malina Ukrainian Bakery is opening up a new venture in the former Credo space on 124 Street. It is called Malina Cafe & Bar, which will offer coffee by day and wine by night. It will open in October 2025 at 10350 124 Street.
  • Italian restaurant Da Cecot in Old Strathcona is now open at 8137 104 Street NW.
  • A new restaurant will take over the space vacated by Dalla on Rice Howard Way at 10166 100A Street NW. It is called Zymo, offering “European cuisine with Ukrainian character”, and will open in mid-October.
  • I did not know that a Burmese restaurant existed in the Edmonton area. Myanm’s Noodle opened earlier this year in Beaumont at 5305 Magasin Avenue.

Having to be at U of A hospital everyday for a few weeks I got to sample the food options in the area. Tansen Izakaya was quite good. I was not impressed by Deville Coffee. And shockingly the Hospital had very good breakfasts. One of the better Bacon and egg sandwiches in town. Have not found a good one since Sandwich and son closed. I did not get a chance to try the new Japanese restaurant beside Deville though.

And now that my SO is at Glenrose I have found Nha Tang to be very good.

The little bao place on 87th near Earls is good, as is Tansen Izakaya around the corner on Whyte/111st.

Second the shout out for Nha Trang. As a bonus, the owner is a super kind dude with a great memory for people.

Have you tried Tulip, Otto's new daytime sandwich shop?

Apparently the Moxie's is good now. Haven't been but was told that. Now the SO can leave site we might try further out.
