I saw the pylons that were put up recently, but have never seen any activity like this. That site has been such a waste for 25 years - it's crazy to me that it can make economic sense to sit on it for a quarter century. If nothing else, they should have turned into greenspace.

Hopefully this means that something is afoot, though I have never seen a proposal for the site - just the for sale sign. Perhaps the owner has decided to remediate in hopes of selling it.
Definitely. It seems that one of the realtor websites shows the land as conditionally sold so i’m hopeful this is something serious.

Interesting stuff in the Sales Brochure PDF. The current landowner/vendor is Imperial Oil (Esso). They had Fotenn do a potential concept for the sales brochure.

"Our findings conclude that the subject site is appropriate for mixed-use redevelopment in the range of 12 to 16 storeys. The site could be developed with a 6-storey as-of-right mixed-use building; a Zoning By-law Amendment could facilitate a 9-storey building, or combined applications for Zoning By-law Amendment and Official Plan Amendment could be sought to gain additional height up to 16 storeys"

I would love to see basically any sort of mixed-use development there. Bronson as a whole needs some love, (the road quality is absolutely garbage, the sidewalks aren't the most fun) and I feel like a development could make it at least a bit nicer.

That McDonald's on Bronson is incredibly depressing post Reno. No customer accessible pop machine, and even the napkins and straws are behind the counter that is encased in a glass shield. A staff member has to scan you into the washroom. It's a soulless grey box. I don't eat at McDonald's, but they have a really tasty cheap decaf coffee that I enjoy. It's really depressing what is happening to food retail these days.

More surveying going on there this morning. Hard to tell exactly what they were doing, but there were a couple of crews involved. Really hope this activity is leading somewhere.
