Exactly. I’m fine with a UPX station here until GO RER is built/operating. With Pearson’s Union Station West project delayed due to COVID, Woodbine GO will be an excellent airport hub in the meantime, with transfers to the UPX as a “last mile” remedy.

I’m curious what the final station name will be? Obviously the TTC already has a “Woodbine”, so I wonder if it will be “Woodbine-Highway 27”? I think “Woodbine-Pearson Gateway“ would be cool too.

Remember, Metrolinx likes to base their station names off of the surrounding community.

So it wont be known as Woodbine, more likely we'll see names such as: Casino, Queen's Plate, or Horse Ranch. But we'll hear of confirmation after they hire and pay their consultants $500K for a name.

Near the station: Woodbine Racetrack, Casino Woodbine, Woodbine Nissan, Woodbine Toyota, Woodbine Hotel and Suites, Woodbine Mall, etc.
In other words, Woodbine is basically the name of the nearby community.

Lets take the X (Express) out of the UPX.

Its like people can't see 5 feet infront of them into the future, about GO-RER.

Nope, UPX is the rapid transit that only exists in the world and will ever exist, so we must have it.

As others mentioned this station probably makes the most sense as a transfer station to the airport from the Finch LRT, and Kitchener RER. With RER the stop at Weston could be dropped and we'd have stops at all TTC interchange stations which is pretty sensible . . .

My point was that its pretty clear that the name "Woodbine" is strongly associated with the nearby community, as a result the name Woodbine makes sense if we are to use to logic provided by Amare:

Logically speaking that would be the case, but we've seen them stray away from the obvious before countless times (ie: Cedarvale for Eglinton West, Fairbank for Dufferin, etc..). And as was mentioned by @robmausser, Metrolinx doesn't do duplicate names.

Maybe things would change since Leslie Woo left?

I would love to think that would be the case, but it's engrained in the culture over there.
