Presumably the floor of the box drains to somewhere and they can simply hose down the inside of it from time to time.
However, I do suspect that the fritting and shadowing are intended to disguise a build-up of dirt over time.

The finish of the glass is also used to exaggerate the effect of the lighting inside the box as well.

I was just walking on the south side of the rail corridor (at Yonge). They appear to be cladding the south-facing SIDE of the train shed with copper. It might look quite nice :->
Anyone have pictures of this?
 
Actually, no. The copper cladding I saw was on the outside of the old southernmost train shed at its east end. Visible from Yonge Street.

That photo shows the outside of the south end of the trainshed. Copper is visible.

It's more obvious from Bay Street (the train shed doesn't extend to Yonge), but it's definitely there in that photo.
 
They have started installing glass on the wall between platforms 24/25. Also, getting ready to pour concrete on the final 'open' section of platform 24/25.
New 'Y' shaped columns erected mid-way through the new new glass roof, one on platform 24/25 and another on 20/21. These will presumably hold the departure info screens.
 
There are track signals at the midpoint as well which seems to be the reason parts of the shed structure under the glass roof haven't been demolished so perhaps the Y shaped columns are for that.
 
They have started to reinstall track (old 12 tracks) 24 at the west end including the switch. Noting for track 11 yet.
 
It is still Track 12. They aren't renaming them.

That looks like a newly refinished stairway to the platform. I thought that other than on dedicated heritage platform they were going to glass stairwells to improve sightlines.
