They were working today paving the new section of bike path running just siuth of Unwin. Looks like it should open in next few days

Just cycled along the new section of the Martin Goodman (in the "BaseLands") and was about to report that it's open. Then I got this:
Martin Goodman Trail's missing link to be officially opened tomorrow
Councillor James Pasternak (Ward 6 York Centre), Chair of the Infrastructure and Environment Committee, Councillor Paula Fletcher (Ward 14 Toronto-Danforth), along with representatives from the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority and the broader community, will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open a section of trail in east Toronto that was needed to complete the Martin Goodman Trail.
Date: Thursday, August 1
Time: 10 a.m.
Location: Entrance of Tommy Thompson Park, 1 Leslie St., near the intersection of Leslie Street and Unwin Avenue (Online map of the location: http://bit.ly/MGTmediaevent_location)
The Martin Goodman Trail is a multi-use, paved trail along the Toronto waterfront between the western and eastern beaches. More information about the trail's new section at Leslie Street is available at http://bit.ly/MGTMissingLink.

A beautiful picture of what I call "Christmas Forest" I've loved this spot for years, especially when its snowy; you have the crisp white of the snow and the paper birch trees the deep green of the scour rush (the green looking sticks coming out of the ground) and red coloured branches of the Red Osier Dogwood. Just a beautiful and relatively unique combination.

I was cycling on the Spit last week and noticed that the TRCA have started work on the adjacent Ashbridges Bay landform Project. - Gravel fill along the inner bend of the Central Breakwater
- A vertical sunken tree field at the inner bend of the Central Breakwater
- Submerged rock berms along the Eastern Breakwater
