^I'll say it again. Zellers in the ground floor of a new mixed use development on the BMO site downtown named "The Tegler". Maybe if we all say it/wish it enough times it will happen.

It’s really not hard/expensive to do a national expansion when they already have International Clothiers/Designer Depot/Fairweather etc in most malls. I expect their national expansion to be just renaming some of their existing stores to the Zellers brand while continuing to sell the same junk as before.

I still have yet to make it all the way to Londonderry to check out the Zellers. Is Zeller's just a clothing store now or is it a glorified Winners?

It’s worse than Winners, as you can actually find decent stuff at Winners. The men’s section in the new Zellers is 75% Triple Goose brand with random other brands nobody has heard of sprinkled in.

If you want an idea of what it’s like, check out International Clothiers or Designer Depot at WEM. They are identical to the new Zellers except for the signage and red tape on the floor.

Sadly, Winners has fewer and fewer gems. They used to be amazing when they sold stuff from other stores. Now it's all made for them and the quality has suffered. It's all consignment and second hand for me, baby! (Not that I'm complaining, a. it's good for the environment, and b. I got some amazing steals at Sally Ann on more than one occasion)

While I envision something a bit more upscale for a Tegler redux like a hotel and residential tower, more affordable, street level retail downtown would also be a very good thing.

It would be interesting it we somehow come full circle here, back to a time when this area was much more vibrant.
