Including moving the entirety of SCC to Kennedy station (all pedestrian/transit fed buildings within 200m of the current SCC station).

Because 200m is the common catchment area for subway stations?

No it wouldn't. Sheppard is a much lower ridership corridor than Scarborough, and would cost roughly $3 billion more than the current plan compared to the Scarborough subway which "only" costs around $1 billion more.

Scarborough eliminates a transfer too.

Think at least 2 Billion or more for the difference between a LRT and subway. After all is said and done you still have to include things such as inflation and contingencies.

So, what can be expected at the council meetings this week? I hope that the LRT cancellation fee comes up.

If you want to eliminate that transfer, there are options that are several times cheaper.

There was always going to be a transfer for anyone going eastbound from Kennedy anyway...either from the BD or the Eglinton LRT. Making it an extension of the Eglinton LRT line rather than an an extension of the BD Line eliminates a transfer and saves roughly $1.6 billion in the process.

Tory's approval rating is still really high.

Nunziata addresses Mayor Tory as "Mayor Ford." Council chamber just got loud. "Old habits die hard these days," Tory says.

He took it well at least!

The emancipation of Toronto's enslaved transit users begins (again)...

Mammoliti: "Why do the poor people in this city have to accept only scraps? They deserve subways just like anyone else does."

"Every part of the city should have a subway" Cllr Giorgio Mammoliti

And every part of the city should have a brain-damaged, clueless councillor who seem to be more interested in red light districts than proper governance.

Okay, Ford is speaking, and SmartTrack has devolved from heavy surface rail, to light rail, and now to a streetcar.

Good lord, I'm having flashbacks.

And the dog-and-pony show continues at council. Rob Ford, commenting on the state of Toronto after four years of his leadership...

"If you look outside, it is a nightmare" Rob Ford.

Yeah, well, gawd knows what he'd been on with that bad trip of his.

And then there's Karygiannis, Scarborough's very own MLK, making the case for equal rights... can I get an amen?

GraphicMatt 12:06pm via Echofon
Councillor Karygiannis now rises to talk about the need to extend the Sheppard Subway. The speaker might want to shut this down.

GraphicMatt 12:07pm via Echofon
Karygiannis: "When is Scarborough and the people of Scarborough be looked at as equals and not second class citizens?"

His rant has precisely nothing to do with Smart Track that council is debating. He also chooses to ignore that Scarborough is getting a line 2 extension to Sheppard, but that's not good enough apparently.
