I can't wait for this casino to open! It could potentially be a big draw for motorists traveling to Edmonton on the QE2. Not sure if this will include QE2 SB access.

I wonder how Century is doing by the airport - and what impact Bear Hills will have on Century.

Looks like Highway 16A is getting some signal lights and new intersections.
This will be interesting.

Is there any info available on the twinning of 17th Street from the Henday to ~39ave? It's well underway, but there's no information on the City's website, nor Building Edmonton or even the current construction map. By the looks of it, they are not yet twinning the section between Silverberry Road and 39 ave (to match where it's already twinned), and I'm trying to find out if that's just a Phase 2 thing, or if it's going to be a while until that area is done (which is just a ridiculous bottleneck, to have like 8 blocks in the middle of the route go back down to 2 lanes).
This appears to be a very odd twinning project, and I can't figure out why it's a good idea in their mind. Only 19ave to 34 ave is being done initially, and while yes this is a big choke point especially with the new school opening, they're leaving 2 small sections as single lane, which I think is going to cause headaches for anyone coming from the Whitemud or Henday ways.

From Henday to 19 ave will see a small section of existing twinned road, down to a single lane for ~5 blocks before hitting 19 ave. Then a similar choke point from 34 ave to 38 ave. So anyone coming from Whitemud or Henday is still going to be stuck here, makes no sense to me (other than $$ of course, but a weird choice)

The intersection at 23 ave north is being upgraded already. Paving today. I may be just for a few blocks to accommodate the new high school. Only one lane turning into the Meadows Rec Centre and the high school

VIA Rail got $$ from the Feds to replace the rest of their aging fleet, including the Budd Cars for the Canadian. If you want to experience the last transcontinental Budd Car fleet in the world, go soon.

Now if only they could get the right of way on the rail network it might be worth doing. The one time we took the train it was 22hrs delayed before even reaching Edmonton. Worse, their communication sucked and they insisted on telling us "soon" the entire time! Awesome experience once we were actually on the train though.

Anyone have any insight on when they’re going to link up Heritage Valley Trail from Ellerslie Road to the rest of Chappelle. Because of that missing link, all of the traffic heading there from the Henday is clogging up the Rabbit Hill Road interchange. While it won’t be solved until Heritage Valley gets a full interchange at the Henday, it would certainly help if the connection was there and less traffic had to be directed down Rabbit Hill and to a left turn onto Ellerslie Road.
