Nice building but look at the traffic lights and light pole. I trust that it's temporary due to construction at the intersection? Discourages investment in the city when something hasn't been upgraded in 75 years.
Yes it's temporary. These were installed during construction, and will be replaced by brand new traffic lights. This is within the Valley Line West work area.

A better system would see that when streets and sidewalks are redone they get Geothermal heat pumps set in place so that when the road temperatures are extremely cold/hot they are ameliorated and when there is snowfall that it is immediately melted (sublimated). The system could be sensor controlled so that it is only engaged when needed. That would help to eliminate auto accidents, slip-and-falls; reduce snow-plow operations, eliminate salt and sand expenditures, and eliminate snow storage sites (that could then be used for other purposes). The initial expense would be high and there would be some maintenance costs but the end result solution would be equitable and would address many negative concerns. Other cities in Europe do this; why not Edmonton/
