Yup, spoke to a site worker. It's coming down. New building behind it is already up, will also have brick - more beige coloured.

Yup. New building is well underway

Edit: ignore the post preview, it goes to the correct post but the forum is previewing with a different one for some reason

Here's a photo from a few days ago of the new building. I don't think it's half-bad, but I wish there were a way to save the original.

I was in Aberdeen, Scotland about 2 years ago and I love that they just kept part of an old building and built new around it. In person it looked great, even though it's no longer functional for anything.

Woof, their branding does not work on the traditional grocery store look.
The sign is a bit big, but I think that is effective in getting the intended message across. Its also a very smart move for them to pick up a decent location from someone else who probably put a lot of money into the building.

So yes it will probably be bigger and perhaps nicer than their average store, but probably at no cost to them or their customers which is what both really care about.

Yeah for sure, I was speaking purely aesthetically. And it could just be the comically large sign that’s putting me off. That being said, Nofrills has quietly expanded in Edmonton quite a bit. 3 new stores within the last year it seems (Mill Woods, Rosenthal, and Place LaRue along SPR).

The Place Larue No Frills would be the perfect size for a small format location in DT.
