Been to a couple of industry events the last few weeks, and adding the projects my firm is picking up. Next year is going to be nuts in construction. Some trades were saying they are having a tough time recruiting. Based on what I am seeing is we may need to redo the temp foreign worker program for trades.

The irony of not having enough tradesmen to build the new NAIT trades complex……

That's probably labour and equipment cost too.

Just remember when we did the Parkade upgrade and did the generator and power vault for that. Was a heft price Somewhere in the order of 20mil. for the entire project.

So there's a rezoning application coming for this strip mall.

Anyone heard anything on this one? That's my old stomping grounds so I'm curious to know what's being proposed.

From Jon Morgan's Instagram. Apparently Steinhauer will undergo neighbourhood renewal at some point before 2030 (back in 2022 I was told at "later end of the 2027-2030 budget cycle", so this would be well-timed.

Seems like a big project for being 20 minute walk away from the LRT. Not really TOD. Better than in the outer suburbs though I guess.

Secure bike parking at LRT stations would be a world of difference in these cases.
