Lot more up on my site

Access To the QEW eastbound road is now close and will not reopen with the new ramps until 2026. All of the asphalt for the close westbound lanes have been removed with some new paving east of Dixie. Eastbound lanes for the 4th lane and off ramp is done except the final top coat from Haig Rd to Dixie as well most of the barrier wall. Still got to install the drainage system. New sound barrier wall still being installed A few sidewalk curbs need to rebuilt as they are fall apart already considering they are not in use at this time

The North Service Road is a single lane at Odgen Walkway with traffic kights likr the Southervice Road in the same location. Roadwork taking place along with the new sound barrier that ends just east of the bridge.

I get the impression the way the curve takes place at the walkway that it will becone a new off ramp to Cawthra with the house on the north side bein expropriate for a new North Service Road.

Not sure why they move the sound barrier that far north as it creates extra space between the new 4th lane and the barrier with the barrier on a curve at the west side.

New sound barrier going up for the South Service Road with part of the 4th lane anf=d the new off ramp to Dixie Rd with the rest of the 4th lane to be pave.

I think they may be nearing some sort of alignment switch. The lanes on the north side of the highway behind the concrete barriers near the sound barriers were freshly painted and cleaned up. looked ready to drive on.

I believe the schedule has them finishing the central median and being relatively close to completion before the winter construction break so we should see some movement soon.

It is possible a major shifting of lanes may take place this weeken or the next 2 weeks. The westbound lanes currently close off are paved and strip to allow traffic to be shifted back to their original location. Only a few sections of sound barrier wall is needed to be fill in. The new ramp off the QEW for Dixie looks to be paved and strip from what I could see from Dixie today.

The big change will be the opening of the westbound on ramp for the QEW as it paved but not strip and looks complete.

The eastbound lanes has been shifted south from my last visited onto the pave area I saw back in September. I will not be surprise to see those lanes stay as they are after the westbound are shifted as it allow a working area for rebuilding the centre barrier wall either this year or in Q2. 2026.

The eastbound ramps and lanes will not be completed until the end of Q2 in 2026. Still a lot of sound barrier wall to be done. The barrier wall for the eastbound off ramp is fully built with duel fenceing on it and the first time I seen this type of fencing. The ramp side has 2 inch square fencing while the Service Road has a mesh fencing with both been bolted together. No fencing in plavce with the light poles will be place on the barrier wall.

I couldn't tell 100% to what extent as I was travelling eastbound but there was definitely some sort of shift westbound over the weekend. Not sure if it was partial or full but traffic was moving much better through that section and the westbound and eastbound were separated by a bigger construction zone for the centre median.

Looks like the westbound lanes shifted outward:

That far right lane exits and it drops to three lanes past Dixie.

That is part of the on ramp lane from Dixir until they go further west at this time as well until the centre barrier is built. There are 5/6 lanes on the east side of Dixiie until the center barrier is built.

Yea, there have always been 4 lanes to the Dixie exit.

The project once it's done will extend the WB 4th lane to Cawthra. For some reason the last plans shown publicly did not extend the EB 4th lane to Cawthra, despite showing basically the entire highway platform built for it. I suspect they are concerned about weaving to access the (new) EB Dixie off-ramp.

There's been no change to the amount of westbound lanes as part of this shift. There are only 4 mainline lanes between the 427 and Dixie Road. Although following the 427 and Evans/West Mall on-ramps there is an additional merge lane from the ramps nor would it be wie to categorize those as a 5th lane. There's certainly no 6th lane in any of those sections, nor will there be.

Going EB the Cawthra on-ramp lane will be extended to the Dixie off-ramp, however it will only be 3 lanes for those continuing past Dixie. The 4th lane comes into play again with the Dixie on-ramp.

That is antiglare fencing, it keeps the SSR WB traffic from blinding QEW EB traffic and vice versa.

Nov 14
I wondering if they are planning to put up antiglare fencing for the plaza area as its only fencing there now and a litttle further away from the QEW like the South Service Rd.

Based on what I was told, they are planning on having the interchange fully open by month end and that is very possible. This will leave the centre medium at a later date.

Even though the engineer drawing saying one thing, but looking at the westbound area on the east side of Dixie Rd, it saids it you can get 5 lanes in plus the westbound on ramp lane.

Major paving of the eastbound 4th lane and off ramp lane was taking place up to the on ramp area as both the off and on ramps for the southbound Dixie was to be pave on Saturday. Ths leaves a section to see base pavement between the two on ramps to be done and final paving to the end of the east end of the northbound Dixie on ramp.

QEW EB&WB preconstruction configuration holds 4 through lanes in each direction between Dixie and hwy427.
Once the IC is complete, the "final configuration" will extend the WB four-lane section towards Cawthra. The reconfiguration will also make the Cawthra EB on-ramp, a must exit lane at the new Dixie EB off-ramp. Effectively creating somewhat of a 4-lane section from Cawthra to Dixie. There is no proposed section for 5 through lanes.

As for the wide platform at the vicinity of the Dixie UP - MTO has an HOV Network Plan for the QEW through Mississauga. This "final configuration" is really somewhat of an interim configuration until the HOV lanes are introduced.
The proposed widths of Lane 1 and Lane 2 on the QEW EB&WB vary from 3.50m to 4.25m and 3.75m to 4.25m respectively. This variation in lane widths is necessary to accommodate the future provisional HOV lane arrangement, while maintaining the shoulder and avoiding a future crown shift. Ultimately, lane 1 will become a 3.75m HOV lane, with a 1.25m buffer over the crown.

@drum118 Always great photos man!
