Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has often said "do your own research" when being questioned about her positions and statements instead of actually responding to the questions.
Since a few of you are having trouble with this or maybe just low standards:

The facts
- her spouse has two consulting firms relating to affordable housing
- this creates a pecuniary interest under Section 170 of the MGA
- she shouldn't be influencing decisions in which she or her immediate family may have financial interest
- she has been influencing decisions countless times relating to this
- YEG Garden Suites received $10,000 from council (not enough to raise concern for some of you lol)

Again, I did respond. You're having some trouble understanding friend.

I don't think having a consulting firm or two is a crime. Perhaps you may be trying to imply the consulting firms as opposed to the not for profit organization got city grants. So did they or not?

Of course its not a crime. But having a spouse campaign on raising funding for affordable housing in which your partner's TWO companies benefits, is not acceptable. Y'all are fierce defenders of the right to have a conflict lol

Leading Housing is the company btw.

For the record, I voted for her the first time until I learned more. When you know better, you do better.

So just in case you did not understand, I will ask the question you did not answer again. You seem to imply the consulting firms received city grants. Did they or not?

Otherwise please do not continue to cast aspersions.

I won't engage with you David A. You're asking questions that have already been answered. Adios.

You’re responding to a post that wasn’t even addressed to you and didn’t reference you.

You bring to mind very long ago high school memories of Gertrude concluding thou “doth protest too much, methinks.”

People can also say “I’m not happy” and then look at the candidates running and not like the options for new ones. I suspect that happens too.

Also, when given a chance to complain, people will complain a lot more than they’ll praise. The city can hit some stuff out of the park that someone cares about, but there’s always another thing they can point to and complain about.

You’d be hard pressed to find large cities in North America with more than 50% of people liking the current direction I’d imagine.
This is why I find it tempting to ignore any poll that simply asks what "direction" people think the city, province, or country is going in because it tells you absolutely nothing. Basically just validation to continue narratives about everyone being angry about everything all the time.

It appears Knack is planning to be more involved in attracting business to Edmonton.

"Knack said that skill calls for a different approach, recalling a successful campaign by the city of Montreal to attract a major game-development company based in France — a campaign that brought the mayor of Montreal in on recruitment efforts.

“I think council has been hesitant to deploy the mayor and council along with business leaders when they’re going on these trade missions, or when they’re going on these opportunities to attract employment, and I think it is important that there is political leadership along with business leadership together when you are trying to attract somebody to come into our city,” he said.
