I can definitely see regionally based "redoubt" movements and other forces attempting insurrection.

Absolutely I see insurrection coming, especially in the form of domestic terrorism from the right wing. There's a recent history of this, with increasing frequency during the Trump years.

2012 Wisconsin Sikh temple shooting (white supremist)
2017 Charlottesville car attack (white supremist)

2019 El Paso Walmart shooting (white supremist, anti-Mexican)

We should expect similar events once the Cons lose in November onwards. It's hard to rally your zealots around a cause when you hold power, but much easier to convey and grow a sense of grievance when your side sees themselves out of or put down by power.

You forgot Waco and the Branch Davidians. David Koresh played it up to sound like the government would be an aggressor bringing about the end times.

I believe we will continue to see pockets of unrest, but I don’t know that it would be a civil war because as Admiral Beez pointed out, what would such a war entail? North vs South? Fighting for what? Territory? A new country? Plots like the one to kidnap the governor of Michigan are a reality, I think, and hopefully they don’t become more sophisticated.

Cons vs Libs. but taking a turn for the genocidal and possibly/wishfully apocalyptic. Imagine DC as Aleppo-on-the-Potomac.

The telltale sign of the election is when Texas, Alabama or Kentucky go Democrat.
These are 3 diehard Republican states and if they go the country goes.

But these aren't bellwethers, nor do two of them really matter. Texas could one day play such a role Presidentially, but it isn't likely there yet. If you want a current Southern state that can really show a seachange happening, it'll be Georgia.

This and Kelly Ann Conway’s daughter’s rebuttal of all things Trump give me hope for the young people of America, and demonstrate the generational tsunami of change that’s going to hit the Boomers and Gen-X like myself.

Bluster; intransigence, saying things that validates their own deep prejudices, general egomania. Americans are an interesting bunch - and Trump encapsulates and personifies a good amount of the undesirable traits.

Don’t forget Colorado - which this year also legislatively abolished its death penalty.

Only 28 states still have it on the books now - and In several of those, it’s dormant. Kansas (a conservative state) hasn’t used it since the 1960s, and in California, it’s all but done.

Civil war may be a stretch, but localized insurgencies and fighting surround various militia groups is highly probable imo and could still turn certain regions into warlike zones.

While its promising that people like kelly anne Conway's daughter and Rudy's daughter are against Trump, I know many young educated kids in the Northern US who are pro trump because they've been brainwashed by the whole "America is the greatest country in the world" propaganda and capitalism is what got them there so capitalism is better than freedom apparently. It's sad, that some of my good friends have those views and thankfully they cant vote, but one of my buddies mentioned the other day that if there was a civil war he'd run off and back the president, so suffice to say the issues run deep.

"Educated" might be a euphemism, given the kind of education they get, the kinds of families and home environments they come from, etc. Grow up insulated within McMansion vulgarity and you really don't get a chance to know any better...

Don't forget the difference between those who are liberal arts majors (who are more likely to vote for Biden) vs. those whose academic disciplines include hard science, business (including finance), law (including law enforcement), evangelical theology, and athletics.

Biden supports this messaging and appeals to these same folks far more than Hilary ever could. That’s Trump’s problem in this election, the other guy is likeable, a capitalist who thinks America is the best. Anyone who watched the debate and the town hall last week can see that the Sleepy Joe moniker is false, he’s sharper than most men in their mid 70s. Nothing Trump tries is sticking to Biden.

Now.... take us to 2024 and I predict a disaster for the Dems. Harris is going to hit a Kim Campbell glass cliff of epic proportions. She’s not likeable, and women seem to hate her, I don’t see America voting for a female POC as POTUS in my lifetime.
