The 2006 LRT cancellation and the following lawsuit means that Ottawa cannot use Siemens trains in the foreseeable future.
I don't think this is true at all. Siemens was being considered by RTG even after they had been awarded the bid for Stage 1.
Ultimately RTG chose Alstom.
 
They really can't catch a break can they? The door thing is classic bathtub curve, problems like that will go away in time - but all these issues is bad luck and near catastrophe time after time!
I dont know if we can sum this latest issue as bad luck. If a train derails, chances are there is something that caused it to derail: either some kind of defect, track issue, etc.. The chances a train just derails because it's having a bad day are pretty slim.
 
Cant you see that the train is not in line from your mirror? Still nobody pulled the emergency brake?
The trains don't have mirrors.

I don't think it's that surprising that no one pulled the emergency brake. Most people probably wouldn't know how to immediately react in a situation like that.
