This thing with the sign on the lawn. How is it she was smart enough to use lawyers but not a realtor? Nobody is going to buy that house because Rob lived there.

https://www.thestar.com/news/canada...tion-of-any-payout-to-widow-and-children.html

At least we know the house is in her name, not Deco's or Doug's or Diane's. I'm just hoping someone in the media tries to find out what Karla is doing at Deco to draw a salary. I'm sure there are employees or former employees dying to tell them.

Let's see how much you like your business when income/capital gains/property/payroll/employer/health taxes skyrocket and you have to work 80 hours per week to subsidize the people the NDP believe are 'most vulnerable' yet end up taking home more income at the end of the day than you the business owner.

This shit again.

Remember me? Help run a small business. Rarely work as much as 40 hrs a week. My work is of high quality and in demand and so I make the rules.

Get lost with your fear mongering.

I'll never work more than 45 hrs, not to mention 80.

If you're working 80 hrs a week then you're doing it wrong.

Not really. I feel negative about it too. It’s a very sad situation.

That doesn’t mean I’m going to vote for an economy destroying neo socialist.

...but you'll vote for an economy-destroying populist windbag who is driving his own business into the ground?

The logic here is tip top, mate.

I did notice this tidbit through Facebook: "The number is listed to someone at the notorious 320 Dixon Rd".

That is BS, apparently.

The fact that this property is not listed with a realtor makes it look like a cheap stunt, like someone is trying to save realtor fees or trying to attract attention.

Why in the world do you need a realtor to sell Rob Fords house? All they needed was a tacky sign and It's already publicized over the news. Some fanatic or investor with too much money on hand either wants to insanely overpay on market value or not. They may have a number in mind and just seeing If they can get it.

Possibly giving the family too much credit and they may be playing games or simply desperate but this home is far too iconic to not sell itself.

All sorts of celebrities have to relist their houses at lower prices. People don't buy houses because they can say "hey so and so lived here". This isn't seinfeld where George bought a car simply because he thought it was Jon Voghts. The house may very well sell but it isn't because your hero who drove drunk, was racist, coached football instead of showing up for work, did Crack, beat his wife and promised you a subway, lived there once.

A google search of the number turns up several reverse lookup hits, with a Z Farah at the address 320 Dixon. As to whether that's legit or not, I don't know. But I suspect that's where people got the idea.

That said, it could be that that's a previously Rob Ford-supplied landline, as I seem to remember something about Rob paying some of the bills for the Bassos. It wouldn't surprise me if Rob paid for stuff for other friends.

It could also be that Renata's moved out of the house to stay with friends during all of this. I can't imagine she and the kids make the best impression on serious home buyers. And as she tends to avoid the public eye, she probably wants to avoid the lookie-lous who may come to the house under the guise of legitimate buyers, the press, and the Ford family in general.

Perhaps to someone looking to find hidden stashes? :)

So Rob is worth around $900,000. He was earning a councillor's salary and then a mayor's salary, lived in a modest house and didn't spend a lot of money. Seems like a really small amount to me.

I think he really trusted his family with his share of the wealth, and expected one day he'd share in it when Diane passes. That said, the dice rolled another way.

It also wouldn't be surprising if the family kept him on a very short financial leash, knowing the addiction issues and whatnot. Can't pawn stuff off for drug money if you don't explicitly own it right?

I've seen speculation reignited over whether Deco is, in fact, a "front for something", i.e. the old hash dealer never totally forgot his true business roots...
Don't forget the story (confirmed by police) of Randy and the disappearing garbage bag of weed. Someone else at Deco had to be in on that. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/toronto/doug-ford-at-deco/article21067584/

According to company lore – a story that was confirmed by a police official with direct knowledge of the incident, a former Deco employee and a source close to the Fords – about two decades ago, police officers spotted Randy walking out of Deco holding a garbage bag in one hand and a weigh scale in the other. They suspected the bag was filled with marijuana. When Randy Ford spotted the officers, he ran into the office. The officers chased after him and wrestled him to the ground. But when they turned to collect the evidence, the bag was gone. Police believe someone disposed of it during the commotion.
