Stick a fork it, it's done for now...

Ford says he'll run as MPP no matter what
Doug Ford committed Saturday to running for a seat in the Ontario legislature this June even if he loses the leadership race for the province's Progressive Conservatives.
But Ford said he's confident he can translate a history of electoral success in Toronto into a win provincially, not just for leadership but for the Ontario PCs as a whole.

The question I have is what electoral success, the Ford name gave him, like Mikey, the seat in Ward 2 and he failed at a mayoral run.

I see parallels between the Scarborough subway and Ford as premier.

With subway, there was an unpopular "transfer LRT" plan that people were grumbling about but the various left Councillors ignored. It got Rob Ford elected, who came up with a compromise. The left then insisted on reverting back to the "transfer LRT" plan. Several other proposals were made, but none stuck. Finally, the only one that stuck is the 1 stop SSE.

Similarly, there was the unpopular Liberal government that the rest on Ontario rejected long ago, but the Toronto left continued to support. Several options were proposed from Tory to Hudak to Horwath, but the left in Toronto would not waver.

It would be fitting that Doug Ford be elected premier - not because he's the best, but because all the other reasonable options were rejected.
Maybe then the left will realize that they occasionally have to abandon a bad plan, or a bad government.

It’s probably the least worst outcome, particularly if he loses both.

It is indeed heart-warming to consider the cruel laughter that awaits our boy should this happen, but keep in mind it's all one to Dofo. If he loses (as will likely be the case) he'll simply start screaming that the ever-so-convenient-and-vaguely-defined "Elites" were the cause of it all, and that he woulda won fair 'n' square if th' Man hadn't been keeping him down. And all bellowed with a complete lack of any shame or self-awareness or willingness to accept so much as a molecule of responsibility for his being, y'know, a loser. Just as Trump was gearing up to do until his surprise win, and just as Hillary Clinton actually did. We see far too much of such bullshit from our politicos these days, especially from self-promoting 'mavericks' of Thug's ilk.

He’s been complaining today that he hasn't had enough time to sign up all of Ford Nation - so he's already working in his victim narrative.

Doug Ford is a corrupt, lazy, vindictive, self absorbed liar and bully who did nothing but spread division and chaos during his single term on city council. Why would it ever be fitting for such a person to be head of government...anywhere?

I like eggs.o_O

Rob wasn't any better and the good citizens of Toronto voted for him. I've learned to never over estimate the intelligence of the average voter.

After looking through Doug's past and present, it seems to me that Doug is a climate change denier. Just like his idol, Donald Trump.

There's a story buried here about Doug Ford's relationship to Richard Ciano and the Brown coup.

Richard Ciano was past president of the PCPO and is co-head of Campaign Research with Nick Kouvalis. Nick and Doug reportedly don't get along, but Ciano is an old buddy.

Ciano tried to depose Hudak in 2013, which resulted in the leadership race where Brown got the win (assume that Ciano wanted Elliott?). Brown then booted Ciano in favour of Rick Dykstra.

Then all of a sudden, at the 'worst possible time', the allegations against Brown break. Brown is out and Ford is in place to take the lead.

There is a layer of back room machinations that hasn't come to light - yet. The speed at which the Liberals can figure it out and get it to the press will determine if the PCPO completely implodes before the election.
