I wonder if Doug will comment on this.
Defence lawyer Dennis Morris argued that Ford shouldn’t be sent to jail, citing other high profile impaired driving cases involving former Maple Leafs captain Rob Ramage and Marco Muzzo, where the result was carnage and erratic driving.
She’s a widow, and her sole source of income is the late mayor’s municipal pension, Morris said.
She has “gained tremendous insight into life challenges in totality,” he said.
Ford renovated the family home and has listed it for sale. She is completely free of alcohol and Valium, and is living a valuable life, court was told.
When asked by the judge about a fine, Morris argued that his client is a widow with limited means of income to support two children.
Renata Ford is suing her brother-in-law Doug Ford for $16.5 million, alleging he has deprived her of millions of dollars, including shares in the family business and a life insurance policy left behind to support his family. None of the allegations have been proven in court.

This has totally screwed my family's window installation business. We have dozens of customers who signed contracts thinking they'd be paying only a few hundred for their high efficiency windows due to GreenON. Now they'll have to pay thousands because Dougie scrapped the program on such short notice and we can't finish their installs in time to qualify. We already had the windows custom made so we can't return them. It's going to be lawsuits galore. Dougie's first boondoggle already! And so it begins. Doug Ford war against global warming.
Incoming Premier Doug Ford quietly axes Green Ontario Fund
Incoming premier Doug Ford has quietly axed an environmental program to help homeowners get smart thermostats, energy-efficient windows and other retrofits to reduce their hydro bills and fight climate change.
The $377-million Green Ontario Fund, financed by the proceeds of cap-and-trade auctions in which industries buy greenhouse gas pollution permits, is winding down.
See link.
Umm, which side is Doug on again?
All those times Rob drove plastered and he just got police escorts home. Not if he has a shred of sense. So, yes.

Well, I'd rather your customers paid for their own windows instead of asking me to pay a share. But in fairness it should be continued until end of the year. This has totally screwed my family's window installation business. What would the lawsuits claim, I'm entitled to my entitlements?

Provided you trust your guy, pay your installer by August 31st, even if the work's not done. Get your rebate.Sincere question, what kind of lag time did you have budgeted between receiving the windows and installation?
I see there allowance if that any signed contract will be honoured if installation has occurred by the end of August (which is just over 10 weeks away)
From their website:
If you’re already signed up for a rebate, it will be honoured if:
Certainly not a robust timeline, a case could be made for longer.
- You have a signed work agreement with a participating contractor for work that will be completed by August 31, 2018
- Your rebate application is submitted by September 30, 2018
And the new management (since Casino Woodbine & some others are no longer run by OLG) is even less interested in 'responsible gambling'. They call their program "play smart" -- which doesn't say anything about playing less or setting a limit; could just mean "don't forget to wear your lucky sweater" And they send 4 or 5 mailers per week trying to get people in, for draws you have to be present for in order to win (old OLG draws weren't like that) and to claim all sorts of cheesy freebies like costume jewellery or 'velvety' throw blankets, like some 80s game show. I don't like the new regime.

So our first Ford Fucking just happened. I signed an agreement today for new windows and got a call to advise the green energy program for new windows has been cancelled. I voted for you. What a useless waste of skin. More screwing to come. Stay tuned. Make this go viral.
Without government welfare the Tesla business model collapses. That’s Musk’s revenue stream, not car sales, but subsidies. Once the cost of extracting, producing and disposing of the lithium batteries is accounted for I’d have to think Teslas and their ilk do not warrant an environmental subsidy.
I've heard them refereed to as farmer. Grant and subsidy farmers.Ontario set to hit the brakes on electric vehicle rebates

Looks like the Tesla business model of depending on subsidies instead of selling cars will be put to the test.
