The sad reality is that it is all about lobbying and influence peddling in the press and behind closed doors to our elected decision makers. You can not just sit back and assume that logic, reason and the best interests of the Canadian people are foremost in the mind of our politicians.
unfortunately our hard working civic servants are finding that their careful analysis and planning is being subvert, warped and often spun in the most Orwellian way.

Here is an example of how a report suggesting breaking ground on the new airport in Pickering was spun by an MP, the housing developers and lobbyists that support her.

The politics around the new airport holds a special fascination for me as aviation is my profession. But this shows why each citizen needs to become political active and put on a critical thinking cap.

Posted in another thread, but the TDSB is following Peel's lead and closing schools.

No one is listening to Doug. Mutinies are fun. Some businesses are refusing to close and now schools are refusing to stay open

About time they start with vaccinations for all “essential personnel” regardless age guidelines. Teachers run infection risks as do grocery store employees and taxi industrie. Time to partially close Costco and Walmart, let them sell groceries only

Time to vaccinate their floor staff. I don't care if Walmart, Amazon, Loblaws or whatever had to pay to round up their staff for a one day on site vaccination campaign at each outlet. And the Feds should just work with the PHUs, skip at the best useless, at worse of bad-faith middleman for vaccine delivery. Let him whine at the courts about the finer details of constitutionality if he want to.

And just what is wrong with this picture?
