The reason many study abroad is that there aren't enough spots in Canadian medical schools. In that light I can see why preventing international students from taking those spots may seem reasonable. But if those international students were willing to commit to staying in Canada and moving to underserved areas of Ontario, then I don't see a downside. Rather than scouring the subcontinent for DoorDash ebikers who then protest when Canada dares to not extend their visas; these pre-meds are the international students we want.True. Some people think they can study abroad in (e.g.) the Caribbean and have no problem get a residency match. They are bitterly disappointed.
