^Why I think HOV lanes are a complete failure. They cause a lot of congestion with people entering and exiting them.

You can see the S ramp in these photo for the westbound on ramp from Trafalgar Rd. There is also a driveway off it as well.

Look like they plan on removing the northbound on ramp and will have to make a left turn where the westbound off ramp connects to Trafalgar Rd in this photo

From my experiences, HOV are a waste having only 2 people in a vehicle when it should be at least 3/4 and should be treated as a passing lane.

Most cases, vehicles are going faster than the passing lane and being abused by single drivers. Exiting and entering can be a safety issues to the point that I have seen drivers cut across all lanes for an off road ramp.

Very rare we use the HOV lanes unless traffic is slow if I can do 10-20 over the limit in the first place in the passing lane.

Enforcement of these lanes is non existing and have see OPP mark/unmarked vehicles following single driver without stopping it.

Right. On summer weekends, even the HOV lanes are jammed on the QEW/403 because so many families are heading to Niagara Falls.

Our trip westbound as we head to Dutton.

The westbound lanes are more advance than the eastbound that we could see in the heavy traffic. New on ramp eastbound from Winston Churchill going eastbound.

Both new collector lanes bridges over the Credit River are about ready for beams to be place on the piers for them.

Back filling taking place on the north side of the 401 for the new Creditview Overpass for the northbound lane. Still got to form the handrail wall on the bridge as well sidewalks on both sides. There wasn't a real sidewalk on the old bridge. Once the bridge is finish, traffic will be shifted to a single lane on it so they can remove the current and back fill the southbound lane.

By the looks of things, the eastbound collector bridge over the RR is now pour and this will allow the back filling for it so the new lanes can be built up to the current Creditview overpass like the westbound lanes.

There are signs for an OPP station. Is the new one at the site of the former InfoCentre open?
No as the old infoCentre was the station and was removed for the expansion. They built a new combine division station in the area and haven't check it out yet. They close Port Credit down along with X's for this new division.

Peel new HQ is on Mississauga Rd at Derry.

Saw 3 OPP cars waiting for westbound speeders on our way home. It been sometime I have seen that many on the 401 in a short section.

At 5:07 it looks like a Basketweave being built (I don't know the proper term)
I'm guessing that on top will be 407 WB to 401 WB exit, and on the bottom will be transfer from express to collectors.

This is actaully a big problem right now with the HOV lane on the new 401 segment in Mississauga.

It ends where the collectors and express also merge going westbound.

And its causing traffic problems at even non-rush hour times of days on the highway.

They should have staggered it more, too much merging at one time.

The eastbound collector lanes at the Credit River do a lot of heavy lifting:

Mavis Road
Hurontario Street
Highways 410 and 403
Dixie Road

It always bugged me that coming off the 427, you were stuck on the collectors all the way to Hurontario Street as well, and that you also had all the trucks merging from the express to get over to Dixie Road and the 410.

I wish that, at least, there was a direct 410 connection from the express. That would help a lot with the weaving near Etobicoke Creek westbound.

Particularly frustrating when you slow to a crawl, and the express is fine. I keep trying to connive on how to go up the 427, and get onto Eglinton or the express lanes somehow. Google suggests taking the 401 eastbound to Dixon, and looping there to westbound - but I've never tried it.

And then there's this ... seems a bit rude though ...

They could insert a loop ramp (or a flyover?) to 401 WB express via Eglinton

Yes there is some help you can give to the 401/410 interchange to help with traffic movements. A lack of 401 express access to/from 410 can be retrofitted, and if price was no object, a 401 east express flyover to 410 could be made too.

Example of what I mean. No room to build a 410S to 401W express connection without substantial rebuilds.

401/427 interchange is out of the scope of this thread but the biggest concern there is pushing the collectors through it to the 409.

Your 401 Express Eastbound to 410 North ramp does not look feasible. It won't be able to gain the height needed to cross a 3 level structure in that short distance. Look at the same ramp from 401 collectors to 410 North. It starts long before to gain the same height.
